But I must admitthat I approached this address with some trepidation. I took the college entranceexam and committed myself to getting into college. I did. In thecourse of the next 50 years of your life, you'll see alot of cycles, and like this one, you'll getthrough it. Igot a new job at a small Wall Street firm, we got bought out by a larger firm, and I ended upremaining at a large firm... Most of you have made great sacrificesand overcome great obstacles to get where you are today. You built up muscles that otherswho've had an easier time don't have. It is a means to an end, not the end. You have to feel proud of yourself. 　　中华美德自古就包括&勤俭节约&。无论你是贫是富，是优秀或是差劲，都不能忘记&节约&二字。
　　作为一名中学生，我们要节约什么呢？恩，我们要节约时间，懂得充分利用时间对我们是一件有益的事；恩，我们要节约金钱，虽然我们的重点应该放在学习上，但是很多同学都会乱用父母给的零花钱，同学们，用钱买一份教辅练习可比在路边买的那些小吃好的多啊。
　　作为地球上的一名生存者，我们更要懂得节约资源。水是生活中必不可少的，然而浪费水的事例却也是最常见的。我们这边的水资源还不算贫乏，很多地区连着几个月不下一滴雨水，大地崩裂出一道有一道&口子&，干旱的土地、干涸的河道、干渴的人们......每每想到这，我既为我们能喝到水而感到庆幸，也为喝不到水的人们而感到悲伤。若是每个人都能节约一滴水，那么全国14亿人口将节约多少水？那么全世界几十亿人口将节约多少水？这将是一个十分令人惊讶的数字。所以，节约用水，从我做起，从每一滴水做起。
　　纸也是生活中最常见的用品之一了。卫生纸、作业纸、书本用的纸、贺卡用的纸、包装用的纸......一棵树能造60千克的纸、能造4000张贺卡。如果一个同学在圣诞节只送八张贺卡，那么全年级将近一千人就要用掉将近八千张贺卡，就等于砍掉了两棵树，那么一个学校的人加起来算呢？一个省的人加起来算呢？全国的人加起来算呢？这又将是一个令人惊叹的数字。
　　同学们，节约是一个良好的生活习惯，如果养成这个习惯，对我们、对社会都是一件有益的事。在此，我想大声呼吁：学会节约，从我做起！从身边的小事做起！
